MAUPAS CASTLE

This castle was built in the Xvth C. by Jean Dumesnil-SImon, bailiff and governor of the Berry. It was erected on the ancient site of a previous dwelling which first belonged to the Seulys (1284) then to the Mathefelons (XIV th c.) and to the Rochechouarts.The castle became in 1682 Antoine Agard's property . He was ennobled by Louix Xvth in 1725,. This castle belongs still to the same family.

The Museum is divided into 7 theme oriented departments, one can find works from ANTIQUITY to the first half of the XIXth century.
